there are always protests going on for many reasons.
and your question “which protests?” is illustrative of the larger view.there isn’t enough coverage of these protests, the news only seems to cover the ones that turn violent or hateful.
There are constant protests from the gay community saying that Pres. Obama isn’t properly living up to his campaign commitments regarding DADT and DOMA; But they are covered rarely if at all.

Well Rachel Maddow did a whole segment on that. Maybe not the protests, but the sentiment of those protests.
My point is-if a view is popular enough-it WILL get some attention, yet people still want to say “it’s not getting attention” -when it is! How much attention should each and every issue get? Like you said there’s a lot of them.
The American media is far from perfect but people act as if they do nothing BUT lie, and that they don’t cover anything at all.

good point, i think it might have something to do with the fact that there is a lot of half-truths spoken, and the people noticing this say they’re just outright lying.
Well it is as you suggest very tough to fit everything that goes on into one news day.
those protest-type stories would have to be only half told so that they can fit more of the breaking coverage people are more interested at the time in order to keep people on their station as opposed to a different one.

thats the real problem with network news that we forget-they have to worry about ratings.
which means things have to be kind of entertaining.
it shoulnt be that way but it is. in europe and other places, the news is a lot more about facts, and told without bias, but honestly, americans would switch away from that stuff in a heartbeat because its “boring”
