Cougar in Chicago shot by police
Dana and Michael are interviewed just before Chicago police arrive to shoot the Cougar that was running down an alley in the Roscoe Village neighborhood of Chicago. Dana and Michael are heroes for courageously warning the neighborhood, they had nothing to do with the police shooting the cat – they were already gone.

my uncle was one of them that shot it and even the zoo said that they did the right thing
IZZAHOPE: They weren’t looking for it for days. There were reports in Wilmette over the weekend, but Wilmette is pretty far from here. And such reports are regarded with skepticism, since big cat sitings are extremely rare in this area. This was the first confirmed cougar siting in the city of Chicago in about 150 years. Animal control came with tranq. guns in the a.m. but left. They probably thought it was a false alarm. When the cops finally saw the cougar, all they had was their handguns.
ESRRX: Exactly, people are acting like this happened in a national forest, not in a city of 3 million people where there hasn’t been a confirmed cougar siting in 150 years.
DUDE!
That happened around my school!
And that Rosa lobato is my spanish teacher (i dont like her)
LMAO hugsh cat
what most people forget is that animals CAN sense such things as FEAR. if the officers approached scared, the cat would pick up on that and get defensive.
I’ve had 2 seperate encounters with a cougar when it was strolling around up in Door county WI. – It kept it’s distance and just sat there watching what I was doing in a non threatening posture as I kept working.
so all those big strong men WITH GUNS against the cougar. . .tell me the entire police force couldn’t have spent the same amount of energy to TRAP the cat. They were just TOO eager to KILL IT. Where is Steve Erwin when you REALLY NEED HIM. I am sick to my stomach to see this. This is just sick.
Poor cougar. The white man took his land and killed him, too.
pacothewalkingtaco, your uncle is a blood thirsty, trigger-happy savage. And I dare you to post some proof that a spokesperson for a zoo, any zoo, said the police did the right thing.
It’s a cougar in a city of 3 plus million.
How can many of you say everything would of been okay?
Go hug a tree, and please pass the cougar I would like some more.
EXACTLY.the pictures of the officers “chasing” the cougar were all poised for a fight.they were ENJOYING hunting that cat.if I was the cougar, you bet I’d have been on the defensive.why not just follow it, and get a vet to get a trank gun to put it to sleep.I hope they all feel strong with their flack jackets and GUNS against the fur and flesh of an animal who was lost, disoriented, and freaked out himself.they could have HELPED that cat, but NOOO, lets SHOOT IT!!!!!Damn them.
OK, this is ridiculous…this cougar has been roaming for how long…..& has not attempted to attack anyone, but yet the wonderful police are saving all of us by killing it on the spot!!! All I have to say is who was here first???? Think before you act……..
i live in this area. and the outcome is upsetting. not equipped with tranqs. cmon.
they been on the prowl on this poor animal for days or weeks, they should of been prepared. that cop who shot the cougar is the one who shoulda been killed by that lady at belmont and western.
typical roscoe village yuppie, I’m laughing my ass off. sure there are tranquilizer guns just call for animal control and wait a minimum of 3-9 hours.
look in one screenshot
2 children and a dog
maybe you would rather the cougar kill them and be fed and happy?
my uncle is on there my uncle rich!!!!!!!!!!
That would be hilarious as hell though, in a Looney Tunes kind of way.
My dad is on there. Papa Rich!!!!!
Oh yes, go into cougar territory, and they will tranq you instead of just killing you. People are making too big a deal of it being killed.
Any of you that disagree with what the cops did, jump in a cougar pit with a tranq gun and see how long you last. They did what had to be done. Remember, animals are the better hunters given the chance, guns or not.
Watched it twice….looks like the cougar was trying to run away……not attacking.
Animals have a tendency to attack at random intervals.
We were here before that fucking cat was.
We did what had to be done.
my school is like 1 block away from where they shot the cougar…. and the lady with the green coat is the spanish teacher….
lol hilarious!
