well, people usually own guns simply because they fall back to the bill of rights and how we have the unalienable right to bear arms or form a militia. that was more than 200 years ago and we still fall back to it. its not like the U.S. is the only place where you can have guns. Canada has more guns per capita compared to U.S. and you never see school shootings there
